Follow-up on potential business leads. Maintain close customer relationships. Book orders. Provide support to all customer's needs (technical, quality issues, product improvements, etc.) through customer visits, phone calls, and correspondence. Working with all internal departments to get the customer service they require. Internal communication of customer requirements, market trends, potential business, etc. Follow up through production, Engineering, and QA staff team members. This through call reports, telephone, E-mail, and voice mail. Market research through trade shows, periodicals, feedback from customers. Decision-Making: Situation:Price Decision Decision:Often made during customer visit to obtain order/increase Situation:Design Decisions. Decision:Type of spring, containment method, type of material. Situation:Travel Strategy Decision:Decide the most economical travel coverage. Situation:Contract pricing Decision:Confer with supervisor where extended pricing, and terms are involved. Situation:Company Tooling Investment Decision:Confer with supervisor where the need arises for tooling beyond our capabilities. Planning: Travel: Example Regular territory travel must be planed in advance to secure the best possible airfares, and hotel reservations. Also to give key division personnel advance notice of upcoming customer visits. This is communicated through the issuing of a monthly travel calendar. Pricing Example: A price plan is assembled and submitted for review for the next calendar year usually in September. It provides the best timing and tactical reasoning for the increase. It is then distributed for the internally and externally. Sales Budget Example: Preparation is started in August for the next calendar year. Consideration is given to market share at current levels versus the possibility to increase that share where it is not 100%. Also accounted for is the possibility for new business opportunities that may invoice with in that given year. Job Requirements: Mechanical Engineering knowledge acquired through 4 years of formal education. Power Spring manufacturing knowledge. Most knowledge comes with experience of working with the product. One must have a concept of the resources of the shop i.e. equipment capability, size ranges, and material usage requirements. A working knowledge of the customer spring design program is necessary for providing information to both the shop and the customer. A working knowledge of computers and various computer programs is necessary for the issuing of reports, budgets, and correspondence. A strong knowledge of materials that inner play with the spring is also indispensable. Most customers are inserting the spring into another component. Usually a form of plastic such as nylon or polycarbonates. There are times when our lubricants are incompatible with these components.
