The British School of Nanjing is seeking an experienced Chinese Teacher to lead our Chinese department. This is a new role and reflects expansion and further development in our Chinese programme.

The successful applicant will...
? Lead the development of an effective long-term curriculum plan in Chinese, that takes into account the transient nature and widely-varying levels of Chinese spoken by international students
? Develop, improve and monitor systems of assessment for children entering the school, so that children’s language needs can be quickly and accurately catered for.
? Lead the development and organisation of appropriate resources for the teaching of Chinese
? Lead assessment for learning within Chinese, developing appropriate assessment tools and methods of assessment in line with the best current UK and international practice
? Monitor the quality of teaching and learning and where necessary, mentor, motivate, advise, coach and support others to improve effective classroom practice
? Plan for the development of the teaching of Chinese, identifying clear targets, time?scales and success criteria
? Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of national and international initiatives and teaching practice, by attending relevant courses as well as implementing training programmes for team members
? Be responsible for the budget allocated to the subject area, and prioritise resource needs appropriately
? Ensure displays, resources, teaching areas and classroom practice in the Chinese teaching department accurately follow school policies and practice.
? Lead by example, through good classroom practice
? Achieve the objectives as set out by the Headmaster in teaching Chinese
? Help plan, run and supervise events and activities both during and after school
Requirements:
The successful applicant will...
? Be an experienced Chinese teacher, preferably in an international school or similar setting
? Be a proven leader who leads by example and is able to motivate and gain the trust of colleagues
? Have a deep knowledge of international teaching practices
? Have experience with curriculum development and assessment for learning
? Be a Native Chinese Mandarin speaker, with fluent English communication skills
? Have at a minimum, a degree in education or similar qualification
