Jinan Foreign Language School Jinan Foreign Language School (JFLS) was founded in 1989. It is the only foreign language school registered in the State Education Ministry in Shandong Province. The school is located in the city of Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province. In1996, JFLS set up its Sanjian Branch cooperating with Shandong Sanjian Company. And the primary school was founded in 2000. From1989 till now, the school has developed into an educational group with primary school, junior high school, senior high school, adult and social educational programs. It is the biggest boarding school in Shandong Province. JFLS has about 7800 students ranging from Grade One to Grade Twelve and the number of the staff is about 950. Now it has five campuses including primary school, junior high school and senior high school. They are all well equipped with first-class teaching facilities. In 2001, JFLS became one of the 17 high schools all round China that have been authorized by the State Education Ministry with qualification to recommend 30% of their graduates directly to major universities in China each year. JFLS implements the curriculum designed by the State Education Ministry, while stressing the characteristics in foreign language teaching. It pays much attention to developing students' practical listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities. Now English, Japanese, Russia, French and German are taught as foreign languages at the school. The school adopts original foreign textbooks and foreign teachers. Now every year the school has about 20 foreign teachers coming from foreign countries. The school has been devoting itself to exchanges and co-operation with foreign countries. Up till now, friendly co-operative relationship has been established with many foreign universities and educational institutes in foreign countries.
