Brief Introduction to Huai¡¯an City Huai¡¯an City lies in the north of Jiangsu Province. It occupies 10,600 square kilometers and has a population of 5.1768 million. Huai¡¯an City is easily accessible by Xin-Chang Railway, Nanjing-Lianyungang Expressway and Beijing-Shanghai Expressway. There are also huge and intricate network of nine rivers. It possesses rich human and geographic resources. Huai¡¯an City is noted as the hometown of Mr. Zhou En-lai, the first and venerable premier of the People¡¯s Republic of China. Huai¡¯an is a city of historic and cultural significance. Early settlement patterns from 6000 years ago have been excavated near Huai¡¯an and are documented in the annuals of ancient Chinese history as the ¡°Qing Liangang Culture¡±. Brief Introduction to Huaiyin Teachers University Founded in 1958, Huaiyin Teachers University, which was named Huaiyin Teachers College before 1997 (HYTC), is a state-running institution of higher education. It is located in the historic city of Huai¡¯an, the hometown of late Premier Zhou Enlai. Now Huaiyin Teachers University provides 47 specialties for students of four-year bachelor programs and offers 42 four-year and three-year specialties for adult education. Current enrolment reaches 15,000 full-time students and more than 4000 adult students. It retains an academic staff of 1448. The campus of it covers an area of over 142 hectare, with a floor space totaling 400,000 square meters. The 32000©Omulti-functional library, which is the biggest in Jiangsu province, possesses a collection of 1.17 million titles, nearly 1770 national and international academic journals. It maintains advanced teaching facilities in its Computer Fine Arts Complex, the Digital Music Lab, the University Production Studio, the Radio Station with Satellite and TV Receivers, and retains the University Journal and three additional University Publications. Jiangsu Provincial Government has honored the University with three major awards, including the title of ¡°Jiangsu Garden Campus University¡±. Huaiyin Teachers University is among the first educational institutes in China authorized by the State Bureau of Foreign Experts, and began to retain the services of international teachers and scholars in 1985. It is also one of the governmental universities qualified to take in international students. An active international exchange programs maintain educational ties with the United States, Russia, Canada, Australia, South Korea and Malaysia. Information for International Teachers I. Job vacancy: 6 English Teachers, 1 Japanese teacher, 1 Korean teacher, 1 ballet teacher, 1 piano teacher. All are supposed to work from September 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007 or longer. II. Requirements: 1. English native speakers from U.S., UK, Canada and Australia with university degrees and above; Japanese native speaker; Korean native speaker; no specific countries are designated for piano and ballet teachers 2. Between 25 to 55 years old, healthy, with or TESOL/TEFL certificates for English teachers, and teaching experience preferred 3. Employment of one academic year at least III. The duties of the international teachers 1. 18-20 periods per week, including classes to English majors or undergraduates, and / or 2¡ª6 periods to middle school students or other English learners. 2. Take part in the activities of teaching research organized by the Department and the University Foreign Affairs Office. IV. The salary treatment Direct payment The university pays a little bit more than the guiding salary standard for a foreign cultural and educational expert made by State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and Ministry of Finance: 1. Teacher with bachelor degree of arts and some teaching experience, or middle school teachers with three years of teaching experience preferred: RMB 3300--4000; 2. Teacher with master degree of arts and teaching experience, RMB 3600---4800, master of arts preferred; 3. Teacher with doctor degree of arts, or professor from institution of higher education, RMB 4200-6000 Indirect payment 1. Free furnished apartment on campus with two rooms, a sitting room, a bathroom, a kitchen with all cooking facilities, with fundamental living conditions: a television, a computer with internet access, a telephone set, a fridge, two air-conditioners, etc. free gas, water and electricity. 2. RMB 2200 traveling fee for one-year contract. 3. No more than RMB 500 medical treatment for one-year contract. The teacher may share free medical treatment in University Hospital for minor illness. If the teacher is hospitalized, the expenses are to be borne by the teacher. 4. Annual holiday of paid winter vocation. 5. Round-trip international economy class air ticket for the nearest distance between China and the country of the foreign teacher for an academic year contract. The teacher may purchase the round trip ticket by him/herself and the expenses will be reimbursed before the expiration of the contract. V. Documents Required 1. Application letter. 2.
