"Earning the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) Accreditation is of great importance for our university to adopt the world's latest concepts on management education to improve our education quality," said Cheng Guangxu, vice head of the university, which is based in the northwestern Shaanxi Province.
Established in 1916, AACSB International is a global nonprofit membership organization where business schools could network and discuss to boost the business education industry, according to its official website.
The AACSB Accreditation, with high-level requirements and strict viewing process, provides greater research opportunities for accredited business school faculty and staff, and ensures employers that graduates from these schools "are ready to perform on day one," the website said.
s of April 2011, 620 institutions worldwide hold AACSB Accreditation.
Xi'an Jiaotong University, originated in 1896, was one of China's oldest higher education institutions. It offers comprehensive research programs with emphasis on science and engineering.
Other AACSB-accredited Chinese institutions include Tsinghua University, Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University.
According to relevant rules, these accredited institutions will have to undergo reviews every five years to maintain their accreditations.
