Cursive script is a style of Chinese calligraphy featuring simplified structure and connected strokes. Evolving from seal script, the cursive script originated from the Han Dynasty for the purpose of easy writing. Wild cursive (狂草, kuangcao) represented by Zhang Xu and Huai Su appeared during the Tang Dynasty, but has become an artistic creation completely isolated from practical use.
