We have been retained to find a dynamic Operations Manager to start up and run a new plastic extrusion plant in the greater Shanghai area. Should have previous experience at a senior level (managing managers) in a foreign invested plastics extrusion facility or a closely related industry.
The Operations Manager is responsible for improving the operational systems and processes on a day-to-day basis. He or she performs many functions that help the business operate smoothly and consistently so that it can succeed and grow.
The Operations Manager reports to US HQ and dotted line to General Manager,
China.
Primary Responsibilities:
1) Production Management
Coordinate across functional departments in driving initiatives that contribute to the company long-term operational success.
He or she plays a very important role in the production planning, systems and control, set the standards and manage the production to meet customer’s expectations to achieve high satisfaction.
2) Supplier Management:
Establish strong relationship and coordinate with suppliers i.e. extruders, paper converter, carton suppliers, freight companies, printers, and etc.
3) Quality & Technical Management:
Develop QA and QC systems, dealing with product quality issues.
4) Logistics/ Supply Chain Management:
Oversee delivery, shipping and receiving. Coordinate with custom clearance agent for shipment clearance.
5) Inventory Management/ Account Payable/ Cost Management:
Manage inventory flow & safety, accounts payable, supplier contracts, manufacturing agreements, and purchase orders to USA HQ
Negotiate pricing for materials, products and services.
Budgeting and perform cost control activities.
6) Hiring and training:
Select, supervise and coach operations personnel and oversee staffing requirements.
Qualifications:
1. University degree in engineering or business
2. Strong knowledge of plastic extrusion technology and some chemistry background helpful
3. Strong background in manufacturing with a grasp of accounting, budgeting and finance.
4. Start up experience would be very helpful along with a practitioners knowledge of lean and other modern manufacturing processes.
5. Experience in managing a team and delegating responsibilities. Demonstrate strong leadership, and committed to high professional ethical standards.
6. Able to work closely with the General Manager in all aspects of day-to-day business functions and be able to help to grow the China business.
7. Must have strong communications skills. He or she must communicate fluently, in writing and verbally, in Mandarin (Chinese) and English.
8. Good computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, MY BOOKS and Email programs
