The Consulate General of Canada in Shanghai is seeking qualified candidates for
Events and Logistics Program Assistant, LES-06
Competition: 2011-LES-Admin-002
Open to: Chinese or Canadian citizens residing in China and spouses of diplomats at the Canadian missions in China who are legally able to work in Shanghai.
Work location: Shanghai. Short-listed candidates should be able to attend interview/test in Shanghai at own expenses. Successful candidates must be willing to relocate at own expenses.
Position Starting Date: August 22, 2011 or earlier
Summary of Duties
Under the general direction of the Mission Management Consular Officer (MCO), the incumbent manages and directs the overall operation of the Events and Logistics Unit, liaises and coordinates logistical arrangements for official visits, arranges Mission use of external visits related services, coordinates booking requests for Consulate vehicles, manages the customs formalities for incoming and outgoing international sea and air shipments, including obtaining/evaluating bids from local moving companies for the packing and removal services of Canada-based staff , and performs other duties as required.
Duties will involve liaison with the Consul General's office, Programme Managers and Officers in the Consulate, coordination with various Chinese ministries and agencies, and liaison with other Government departments, provincial governments, and other organizations in Canada as well as a wide spectrum of service providers and partner organisations in China (hotels, car rental companies, equipment rental companies, Canadian China Business Council, international packing and shipping companies, and other service providers).
The incumbent will also be required to work in other areas of the consulate as required including the property sections where they will serve external and internal clients. Strong client service skills and flexibility in job tasking during slower periods will be very important.
Qualifications
In addition to the attached Statement of Qualifications for this particular position, the incumbent must be able to undertake employment legally in China.
Salary Remuneration
Approx. RMB 141,841 gross per year with benefits.

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS
EVENTS AND LOGISTICS ASSISTANT LES-06
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from a recognized university or college or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
LANGUAGE:
Ability to speak, read, and write in English is essential.
Ability to speak, read, and write in mandarin Chinese is essential.
Ability to read, write, and speak in French is highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates who are English/French bilingual.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in organising visits/events and logistics planning is essential.
Experience in problem-solving is highly desirable.
Previous experience as an administrative assistant is desirable.
Experience in dealing with the general public, government officials, and business representatives would be an asset.
Experience working under pressure, with minimal supervision and in dynamic team environment.
Demonstrate experience and strong aptitude for working on a PC in a network environment.
