Job Description

The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai is recruiting a Committees Liaison for its Committees Department. The Committees Department is responsible for the coordination of each of AmCham’s industry /function based committees in support of the overall mission of the Chamber. Our committees are the main conduit for the Chamber to engage our members and provide a platform for industry professionals to exchange ideas, share information and network among their peers. Through the committees, members come together to strategize about ways of improving the working environment for foreign businesses in Shanghai and throughout China.

Under the direction of the Director of the Committees Department and the Committee Liaisons the Coordinator will support in the planning of committee related activities to increase the effectiveness and scope of AmCham’s services. This is a key position and an integral part of the Chamber’s internal function with its members. 
 

Duties:

  1. Support Committees Department’s operational and administrative duties, including: scheduling meetings, reserving and prepping rooms, maintaining activity/member lists.
  2. Track members and activities; build database and working lists in support of committee activities, and maintain committee specific issue folders.
  3. Keep all assigned committees’ web-pages up-to-date, uploading material provided by members, other stakeholders and meetings; as well as writing/publishing content for to each committee on the web.
  4. Support research as activities and projects require. Compile reports on events, member surveys and metrics to direct future programming; creating and compiling member surveys.
  5. Provide administrative support t the Director.
  6. Coordinate between departments internally.
  7. Any other duties as directed by the Director of Committees.


SELECTION CRITERIA

1.     A self starter with a proven capacity to work effectively (both independently and cooperatively) in a team environment coordinating between individuals and departments.

2.     Demonstrated ability and experience in working in an administrative support role.

3.     Demonstrated ability and experience as a coordinator or organizer working with various internal and external stakeholders.

4.     Well developed time-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and work under pressure in an organized way to meet deadlines.

5.     Fluent English speaker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Chinese language ability a plus.

6.     Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Exchange and other related programs, graphic design aptitude and internet literacy a plus.

7.     Creative ability to introduce new ideas and enthusiastic attitudes in working with people. .

8.     Degree in Business or Humanities e.g. International Relations, Political Science, Economics
