Job Description

 Fast paced, full solution engineering and manufacturing firm seeking mechanical engineer with 2-5 years experience, strong initiative and problem solving skills. Bachelor or greater , more than 3 years foreign company working experience, more than 2 years program management experience, with Automotive part manufacturing experience, molding plastics, cable manufacturing and metal forming experience is preferred.  TS16949 experience needed.

 

Good communication and project coordination capacity. Good career ethics, leadership and team play along with the ability to handle increasing responsibility. Overcomes barriers to achieving goals and objectives while maintaining good relationships with co-workers, strong ability to  listening, spoken, reading and written English, at least CET4

 

Reports to: Program Engineering Manager

 

General Description of the Position:

 

Responsible for production of a variety of products from the manufacturing process and delivery point of view.  Includes driving continuous improvement in Quality, Cost and Delivery by using Lean manufacturing practice, Kai-zen events and other team or individual techniques as necessary to bring lasting improvement to the manufacturing plant.  Identifies problems with existing process or methods, determines root cause, then designs, implements and sells solutions to the rest of the manufacturing management team and production workers.  Works with new product development teams including program management, customer and third party designers to develop and launch new products and process including machine purchase, design, tooling design and automation as necessary to meet cost and profit goals of new products.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop manufacturing process to support projects in quote stage and in pre-production after award using 3D CAD and basic models and sketches from Industrial Designer
  • Work with program managers, designers and customers to design process, fabricate, and assemble prototypes 
  • Detail project management Gant charts to track projects during pre-production
  • Use CAD and detail drawings from 3D software to develop tooling (SolidWorks)
  • Provide technical support to customer service and sales 
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams of people (mechanical, electrical), etc., to complete projects
  • Support design of parts and tooling for Die Casting, Injection Mold, Sheet Metal and other metal forming or cutting process
  • Perform tests to replicate UL and other applicable standards
  • Leads internal AQP teams in launching of new products
  • Generates APQP, PPAP, FEMA, 8D and S/CAR reports as needed
  • Maintains effective communication between Project Engineering in Tampa and the plant
  • Leads production teams in the continuous improvement and Kai-zen projects to achieve improvement goals quarterly
  • Complies with the environmental policy and applicable quality and environmental management systems instructions
  • Maintains records for MSDS, C of C and C of A for every resin, or chemical used in the production or maintenance of product or process equipment
  • Comply with the Workplace Safety and Health Policy and applicable instructions.

 

Activities:

- Works with and coordinate engineering subcontractors.

- Leads AQP projects following the TS16949 Standard.

- Actively Participates in the 8-D meetings.

- Develops and evaluate auxiliary tools as well as validating assembly fixtures

- Analyzes each production line.

- Coordinates engineering changes.

- Develops time studies.

- Participates in special production projects.

- Coordinates the repair and maintenance of assigned molds and equipment.

- Prepare F.M.E.A.’s

- Actively participates in the continuous improvement process and cost reduction.

- Maintain contact with the Technical Center for engineering projects.

- Performs other activities as assigned.

- Develops piece packaging.

- Capacity studies.

- Leads new product containment operations

- Lean Manufacturing project lead experience, six sigma a plus.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 to 5 years industrial experience (Automotive Lighting experience a plus)
  • Project management experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • 2+ years Experience using Solid Works or other 3D design tools
  • 3 years in manufacturing area
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication
  • Injection Molding experience
  • metal forming experience is preferred
  • Wire Harness or cable manufacturing experience helpful
  • Automotive manufacturing background is preferred.
