The Contracts Manager is part of Gensler’s corporate Legal Department.The position is located in Gensler’s Shanghai office and reports to the General Counsel in San Francisco. The Contracts Manager is responsible for contract review and negotiation, ongoing project support for legal/contractual issues, liaising between local management and the corporate Legal Department and outside legal counsel.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide contract support for offices within China, which presently include Shanghai and Beijing and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.
Communicate contract policies/procedures to project teams.
Review requests for proposals and proposed contract terms and conditions for consistency with contract policies/procedures.
Prepare proposal responses related to contract terms and conditions and insurance requirements.
Support contract negotiation as needed.
Prepare form documents and project correspondence.
Develop and maintain basic contract templates and standard language.
Assist the Regional Counsel and project teams to prepare project documentation related to potential or actual legal issues.
Liaise with the Regional Counsel and outside legal counsel as needed for legal research and claims support.
Support issuance and renewal of local practice licenses/registrations.
Assist the Regional Counsel to prepare and present education materials related to contracts and other legal topics.
Qualifications:
At least 7 years of experience in a related field (e.g., design/construction, contracts management, procurement, professional liability brokerage or coverage).
Working knowledge of professional service agreements.
Ability to write in English and Chinese and speak English and Mandarin.
Ability to draft contractual instruments in accordance with prescribed templates or guidelines.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook email.
