The Assistant Director will manage student life programs at NYU in Shanghai promoting student community development, student security, health and safety, emergency protocols, and related operational and residential needs. Other responsibilities will be to develop relationships with US and local regulatory institutions in Shanghai as well as appropriate offices of the partner institution East China Normal University (ECNU), to facilitate program administration, to promote the well-being of NYU students and to market the program.

To qualify, you must have a Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. university and two years' experience managing educational programs, advising and counseling students or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are required. The ability to supervise staff a must. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software is essential. Conversational level Mandarin required.

Experience living and/or working in China; familiarity with local educational and cultural institutions in Shanghai; a Master’s degree in East Asian Studies or related field, and fluency in Mandarin are all preferred. This position is located in Shanghai.
