POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for maintenance, repair, and modification of Rain Bird tools operated in China
- Responsible for evaluation and development of tooling sources in China for both tool procurement as well as tool repair and maintenance
- Responsible for supervision and mentoring of one or more Tool Engineers
- Responsible for specification and procurement of new tools for products and projects supported by Engineering
- Responsible to act as a liaison to North American Tool Engineers for procurement of new tooling in China
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS Degree in an Engineering discipline
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 5+ years of hands-on experience involving specification, procurement, and qualification of molds for injection molded components
- Proven track record of developing complex mold tooling for production of high quality, low cost, high volume components
- Excellent theoretical and applied knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts
- Working knowledge of quality improvement and lean manufacturing methods
- Well organized, enthusiastic, high energy, strong work ethic
- Ability to perform financial analysis and cost justifications
- Working knowledge of plastic and elastomeric materials
- Working knowledge of statistical process control and process capability
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of work schedule
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and obtain results working with others
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, Outlook, Project)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in the use of CAD (SolidWorks) and mold flow analysis
- English proficiency spoken and written
- Working knowledge of thermoset/compression molding, co-molding, flash-less rubber molding, multi-shot molding, in-mold decorating, etc.
- Experience in procuring tooling in China
- Experience in lean manufacturing techniques
