The Position

Engineering Department Manager (Manufacturing) - Based in Shanghai

 
The Engineering Department Manager will have major leadership role within the company. The candidate will focus on the existing supply chain and in expanding and consolidating the company’s whole range of products. The position requires great ability in supply chain management, new account development, distribution, and supporting the company’s customer network and sales.  Excellent contacts in the industry, vast product knowledge and understanding of the Chinese professional and manufacturing sector is required.
 
Reporting to the Managing Director of the company based in Shanghai.

  Key Responsibilities

§  Overall leadership of the Engineering Department includes solving technical difficulties, guiding engineering designs, creating standard processes and expanding the department.

§  Oversee and lead a dedicated team of procurement engineers and assistants on the day-to-day operations of the department.

§  Support and oversee the new product development process, vendor qualification and communications and negotiations with sub-contractors.

§  Oversee and manage customer's requirements in terms of product life cycle, quantity and on-time delivery.

§  Ensure manufacturing is running efficiently and operations are continually improved.

§  Responsible for driving department yield, product quality and production costs while ensuring departmental objectives are achieved.

§  Present production indices in monthly meeting and solicit process/equipment support to ensure tight focus on areas requiring immediate attention.

§  Develop and ensure completion of monthly and yearly manufacturing goals, objectives and turnover.

§  Responsible for strategy planning and implementation, P&L, sales, marketing, contractual and technical analysis the business.

§  Sets budgets and revenue targets for the department.

§  Coach and develop team members

 

§  Review and support properly the arrangement in manpower and improve work efficiency.

§  Ensure and uphold safety, discipline and housekeeping compliance by all departmental personnel.

§  Ensure proper documentation and data integrity.

§  Resolve line related issues and understand all equipment constraint/capacity issues so as to be able to identify, handle and resolve bottleneck situations.

 

 

Requirements:

§  10+ years of working experience in manufacturing, including 2+ years manager experience.

§  Very strong technical background in multiple manufacturing processes.  Must have a broad width of engineering knowledge and the ability to solve complex technical issues in an efficient and effective manner.

§  Strong quality sense and related means of quality control in production process.

§  Good planning capability in production targets break down. Management and team building skills are essential.

§  Ability to operate in a team environment and provide leadership and facilitate the production process.

§  Absolute fluent communication skills in both oral and written English/Chinese.

§  Bachelor degree in Engineering/ Electronics/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related fields. Masters or MBA is preferred.

§  Sales and goal-oriented. Rational, consistent, motivated, independent with a high level of integrity.

§  Solid experience in mold, electronics, refinishing and integrating products, coatings, polishing (including tooling and machinery), sub-assemblies and full assemblies needed.

§  Strong experience in technical sales management techniques, training, marketing and bidding processes within the industry.

§  Mastery of software such as AutoCAD, Pro-E, Solid works etc
