Sr. Supplier Development Engineer
THE POSITION
The key function of the Sr. Supplier Development Engineer is to assess, evaluate and develop suppliers with primary focus on Asia. The role must ensure rigorous implementation of quality management systems and continuous improvement culture so as to ensure breakthrough levels on performance in all dimensions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Audit and assess potential suppliers so as to determine candidacy for approved vendor list.
§ Assist in the technical review and pre-award processes.
§ To conduct part specific qualification of suppliers and serial audits as required.
§ Liaise with engineering functions for resolution and escalation of technical issues.
§ Ensure supplier performance through regular reviews and implementation of corrective action plans.
§ Drive standardized problem resolution process for incident management.
§ Elevate supplier performance through implementation of a continuous improvement culture.
§ Participate in extension of lean production system to targeted key suppliers.
§ Train suppliers in all aspects of quality management systems.
§ Ensure effective launch of new products, engineering changes and supplier base transitions.
§ Implement systematic program management across all supply base activities.
§ Champion strong partnership programs with suppliers to ensure a long term collaborative relationship with a proactive focus.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION (Essential Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills)
Mandatory
§ 4 - 6 years work experience in sourcing, supplier development, quality, operations in leading multinational companies.
§ Bachelor degree in Engineering or Science.
Related work experience in automotive or aerospace industry.
§ Fluency in English (written & verbal).
§ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
§ Clear understanding of detailed technical drawings and specifications.
§ Strong problem solving skills
§ Willingness to travel (60%+)
Preferred
§ Sound knowledge of quality systems like QS9000, VDA, TS16949, etc.
§ Lean Manufacturing experience.
§ Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
§ Familiar with low volume high mix sourcing and operations.
§ Trained and experienced in negotiation skills
