Qingdao Hotel Management College (the College) is a government-owned vocational college offering three year education approved by Shandong People’s Municipality.

The College is located near the world famous Lao Mountain area near Qingdao. The College campus occupies an area of 53 hectares with total classroom and office space of 200,000 square meters. The history of the College can be traced back to 1945 and thousands of our graduates have contributed in many five star-rated hotels, business & trade, culinary art, IT and arts industries around the world.

The College invites foreign experts and teachers to work in the College teaching foreign languages. At present, we have 9 foreign teachers who are from U.S.A, Australia, New Zealand, Korea and Japan. All foreign teachers live in one apartment building. The two-bedroom single-occupancy furnished apartments offer good living conditions and no classroom is more than 10 minutes walk from the foreign teacher apartment building. Each apartment is about 60 square meters. In addition to the two bedrooms (double bed, mattress, pillows and linen supplied), the apartments comprise a living room, equipped with sofa, computer desk, office desk, TV and coffee table. One bedroom has a south-facing balcony. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator-freezer, electric cook-top and microwave oven. The bathroom has a shower, twin-tub washing machine, western-style toilet and hand basin. Each bedroom has a heater-cooler heat pump and during the winter months the central heating is also on.

Overall the teacher accommodation provides ideal conditions for living, working and studying whatever the season. Broadband internet is available in the apartments at college expense.

Candidates should have the ability to teach a variety of classes, such as listening, speaking and writing. Teaching load can vary, depending upon the College’s needs, and teacher requests. The normal teacher workload is between 16 teaching hours and 20 teaching hours per week. Each teaching hour is 45 minutes. The salary is 4000RMB for each month.

In addition to teaching, appointees are expected to help develop the general environment of English-language learning in the college. Specifically, each teacher will participate in English Corners. These are held once a week for about 10 weeks in each semester. Teachers are rostered for English Corner and generally work in pairs. Each teacher can expect to be involved in 3 or 4 English corners in a semester.
