Globalization has now become an unavoidable reality. It has entered an era that knows no bounds. In the future, our children will live in a more competitive world. They will have to be multi-faceted and broad-minded. Not only will they need a sharp mind, they will need advanced language skills. This is our approach to education at Happy Marian, to encourage children how to be global citizens.
The teaching philosophy of Happy Marian was initiated in September 1989 on the principles of childhood development and world view. At that time the environment in Taiwan for childhood education was inadequate. A group of scholars and educators were brought together to establish the Hsuan Shian Corporation in order to improve the quality of English language learning and method of teaching. We also set a goal to increase the English language level for the country. In December 1991, the Happy Marian Language Learning Organization was opened. This was the first pre-school language institution in Taiwan .
Happy Marian has been using the whole language approach to learning since 1991. The focus is on developing the whole personality as well as language and literacy training. Over the years more than 10,000 students have graduated after making some outstanding achievements, setting the standard in Asia for language learning. Many scholars, parents, and children alike praise the system.
Starting in 2003, the program was expended to include elementary school students and established the E class system in order to accommodate more students who didn't have a significant English foundation and wanted to benefit from the program.
