Shane English School Hangzhou is looking for a new teacher to join our team in September 2008. We are also looking for our next Director of Studies to take over in September of 2008. Part of the worldwide Saxoncourt group, SES Hangzhou is a well run and well established school with western management. We are close to beautiful West Lake and its surrounding mountains. Hangzhou is only 2 hours by train to Shanghai.
Applicants should be native speakers, have a recognized EFL qualification (TEFL/TESOL /CELTA/DELTA), have a university degree and be prepared to sign up for at least one year. As most of our classes are teaching younger learners, applicants must be patient, presentable and have a sense of fun. Only American, Australian, UK, Irish, NZ, Canadian and RSA Native English Speaker passport holders will be considered.
Experience is preferred and we’re particularly interested in hearing from applicants with experience of teaching children and/or in China. Paid training will be provided and the school is very big on professional development. A willingness to learn and a desire to become a better teacher are very important, as is the ability to get on well with your students and colleagues.
Most classes are in house and classes are generally small – no more than 18 students. There is a Chinese teaching assistant in every class to help with marking homework, classroom discipline and setting up of activities. All the teaching materials you will need are provided by the school, leaving you free to concentrate on planning imaginative and stimulating lessons. You will be required to work some evenings and weekends with 2 consecutive days off during the week.
Starting salary for teachers is 6600 RMB (extra if you have teaching qualification or relevant experience) for a 72 hour month plus paid overtime, help with air flight, health insurance and end of contract bonus. All Teachers are entitled to 22 days paid holiday to be taken around the Chinese public holidays. Extra unpaid holiday may also be taken at the school’s discretion. We will help you in finding a suitable apartment, but the rent is the Teacher’s responsibility.
Shane English School sponsors all teachers for the working visa, which is valid for one year. Teachers are responsible for payment of the fee for the initial visa obtained in their own country, and the school covers all costs within China.
We are also currently looking for a new Director of Studies here at Shane English Hangzhou. The applicant should have at least three years experience teaching English overseas, a dynamic personality and excellent leadership skills. You will be required to do some teaching as well as the administrative duties that this position demands. The salary for this position is 12,000RMB per month.
