In addition, there are another 100 foreign teachers and visiting professors working at SDUW.

As an important component of the hundred-year-old Shandong University, SDUW has absorbed the essence of the great tradition and culture that have been passed down from our forefathers. Shandong province is well-known for “One Mountain, One River and One Sage”. “One Mountain” refers to Mount Tai, which is crowned as the most famous among China's five great mountains. “One River” refers to the Yellow River, the birth place of Chinese civilization and the “Mother River” of Chinese people. “One Sage” refers to the famous ancient philosopher and educater Confucius, whose hometown is Qufu, one city in the southwest part of Shandong province. Meanwhile, SDUW is endeavoring to broaden its horizon through various cooperation with foreign universities. Weihai city is very near to North Korea (it takes less than one hour from Weihai to Seoul by air). Taking this geographical advantage, SDUW has established cooperative relationship with more than 10 Korean Universities. Research cooperation, student and teacher exchange are booming. SDUW is an ideal place for both education and scientific research.
